I don't normally post pics of my work in progress, not due to a need for secrecy, but rather because I figure that my process is fairly straightforward and not all that interesting until (hopefully) the work is done. But well as with any rule there are always some exceptions so today here's a vague glimpse into what i've been making lately. These are all little parts of much larger sculptures, but you'll have to wait to see those...The new body of work is dealing with similar themes to previous works, but with more of a focus on innocence, death, love, expectations and childhood.
you should make more exceptions... love to see things in progress and you can't go wrong with skulls, i'll have to send you a pic of the painting in my dining room. anyway, love the skull with the wings and the skull on the disc with the red thread... wondering how it will all go together
i'm not entirely sure where it'll end up....but be careful what you wish for - i just finished chaina painting some brain matter and blood on a sculpture...i promise not nearly as gross as it sounds. would love to see that painting btw!
a little blood is good... reminds us that we're mortal and human, i'll take a unprofessional pic of the painting and email it. it's quite large so i can't promise anything with the glare issues
I'm a ceramic artist based out of Saskatoon, Canada. I make two distinct bodies of work, one sculptural the other functional. I'm interested in material culture, politics, ethics and methodologies of representation in art.
Contact me at carole_epp@yahoo.ca
If you're new to the blog welcome! How it works is that I post interesting ceramic related events, calls for submissions, exhibitions, etc. And when I find the time I might post a bit about whatever is floating through my mind or studio at the time. If you're interested in calls for entry make sure you scroll down as I list things as I find them and they are in no particular order, it's basically up to you to find what might interest you and the upcoming deadlines. Please feel free to email me with any of your own upcoming events, i'd love to post them and it saves me a bit of time searching! Cheers and enjoy!
